Environmental Stewardship

Great care was taken during the construction of TPC Stonebrae to preserve and protect natural wildlife habitats, while at the same time incorporate the distinct natural contours of the land into the design. The golf course encompasses 75 acres of maintained turf. This acreage is part of a 450 acre parcel of land managed by Stonebrae. In 2010 TPC Stonebrae completed the final stages of environmental certification. Audubon International now recognizes TPC Stonebrae as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.  This designation is achieved through a wide range of management activities within the property including wildlife habitat management, wetland establishment and enhancement and effective management of natural resources, native plant and animal species.

In addition to this prestigious distinction TPC Stonebrae has been recognized by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America with Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards every year since its opening in 2008. Great care is taken to ensure that TPC Stonebrae maintains itself as a positive component of the overall environmental footprint including utilization of best management practices for maintenance programs. In 2011 TPC Stonebrae achieved a 70% level of recycling and continues to work towards a goal of 90% recycling throughout the entire facility.
